UNDERSTANDING CHILD AND YOUTH VICTIMIZATION:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR BETTER PREVENTION AND PROTECTION

ABSTRACT : A clear conceptual framework is essential in the study of any discipline, as it enables a precise understanding of its scope and delineates it from related fields of inquiry. This research, which focuses on the victimization of Child and Youth, follows the same principle. It begins by defining the key concepts of minor , child , victim , minor victim , and juvenile as well as by clarifying the various forms of victimization . The discussion then turns to the contributions of victimology , a relatively recent discipline, in shaping contemporary approaches to the prevention of crimes against young people. Subsequently, attention is given to the mechanisms through which federal and state criminal justice policies seek to protect minors who, despite preventive efforts, nevertheless become victims of crime against their person. Finally, the study provides practical recommendations on how individuals and institutions can appropriately respond to cases of victimization among Child and Youth. Let's Protect Children Together!
